Our Langley 2022 highlights

It’s been a milestone of a year here at Langley. Not only have we celebrated our 20thanniversary – marking twenty years as one of the most trusted supply chain and procurement recruiters – we’ve also completed our biggest ever charity initiative, launched Langley in the US and welcomed a new member of the team.

And all whilst hitting our targets and increasing our net fee income by 80%.

So, we’re definitely ready for the Christmas break!

But before we briefly down tools, we wanted to thank all of our fantastic clients and candidates for your support this year – we couldn’t have done any of it without you. And so to finish off the year, we thought we’d share some of this year’s top Langley highlights to show you just what your valued support has helped us to achieve.

Here’s just a snippet what we’ve been up to in 2022…

We launched our ‘Twenty Days of Giving’ charity initiative

Beginning in January to mark our 20thanniversary, we set out to make donations to 20 charities over the course of 2022.

Throughout the year, we asked colleagues, candidates and clients to suggest charities they’d like to see receive our donations, and we had a great response. We received suggestions covering a wide variety of causes – from well-known charities such as Help for Heroes and Shelter, to lesser-known charities such as The Washing Machine Project and Voyage. Here are just a few of the other charities we chose:

  • Bowel Babe

  • Mind

  • St Mungo’s

  • Crisis

  • CALM

And we’re delighted to say that this week we made our final donation to Gingerbread to complete our year of giving.

But we’ve decided not to stop there. We’ve found the experience so rewarding, that next year we’re planning to continue our charity support by donating to one chosen charity every month.

Weopened our New York office

In October, we were excited to announce the official launch of our US business.

We’ve been working in the US for many years, with a great candidate and client network, and recently we’ve seen a real growth in demand for specialist supply chain recruitment consultancies. So, this year, we decided to finally take the plunge and open our new office on Park Avenue, New York.

And we’re very glad we did!  We’ve received a great reaction from clients and candidates, and we’re feeling very positive about the potential for future growth in the US.  We can’t wait to start building our very own US Langley team and strengthen our reputation as leaders in supply chain and procurement recruitment.

We continued our commitment to diversity and inclusion

To coincide with our US launch, Langley owners Michael Babatunde and Wis Amarasinghe went with MSD UK to New Orleans to attend The National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) 50thAnniversary Conference and Exchange.

NMSDC work to empower minority business enterprises (MBEs) to succeed in the local, national, and global marketplace - a cause we feel very passionate about. At Langley, we believe that diversity and inclusivity must be at the heart of any successful, forward-thinking organisation, and Michael and Wis both commented on how inspiring it was to hear how NMSDC are championing this sentiment in the US.

They also took the opportunity to meet with new and existing clients and share their experiences of upholding diversity in the recruitment process.

We welcomed a new recruit

We were delighted to welcome Jack Somm to the team in July, joining as a Senior Principal Consultant. Jack came to us from Adecco, and his talent and enthusiasm for the role has already made a big impact. He’s quickly become a very valued member of the team, and we hear he’s quite happy too!

Here’s what Jack had to say about his time at Langley so far: “I’m really pleased I made the move to Langley. I came from a top ten recruiter, where I was a little fish in a big pond. At Langley, I feel like an equal to everyone else in the team, and my opinion is valued and listened to.

“I love the flexibility of working from home and in the office. I’m given the freedom to manage my workload as I like, but I receive support as and when I need it. I see a long-term future with the company, knowing I’m developing a specialism within an industry I’m so passionate about.”

We built even stronger ties with The House of St Barnabas

Our partnership with homeless charity The House of St Barnabas (HOSB) has carried on this year, with Director of Public Sector, Nathan Ramsey, continuing to share his knowledge and expertise to help homeless candidates succeed in their job hunting and secure paid employment.

It’s HOSB’s mission to break the cycle of homelessness and create a fairer future for all. Gaining and maintaining paid employment is key to breaking this cycle, and by offering interview skills and techniques training, Nathan hopes he can play a part in helping some of London’s homeless to find security and achieve independence.

And we’re looking ahead…

We have some exciting plans in the pipeline for 2023, which we can’t wait to start working on in the new year.  We predict a busy year in recruitment and so we’re going to keep growing the Langley team, both in the UK and the US, so we can carry on providing an exceptional service for our clients and candidates.

Our work will continue to be driven by our core values of expertise, integrity and passion, and upholding equality in the recruitment process will be at the heart of this.

We look forward to working with you in 2023!
